Ecopia
Ecopia is a place where is special emphasis is laid upon the environment. Houses are specially designed in such a way that pollution will have become a matter of the past by using photovoltaic energy . An ingenuous subterranean system is conceived to take care of this, simultaneously making sure the esthetics of this beautiful city are left intact. Cars fueled on electricity are allowed but most traffic will take place via public transport, with a specific emphasis on the metro-system, which will be fully developed in contrast with contemporary Rome that due to the archeological richness, finds it almost impossible to further construct new metro-lines. Abandoned places will be re-used, specifically land owned by the church!
Virtue-Ality (winning concept)
Virtue-Ality is a neologism combining virtue and reality. Since virtue is a key virtue in this society and it is an ever changing society; the reality changes at will by its inhabitants in various intriguing possibilities. The improvement of individual freedom& society are explored in three different elements;
1. Sustainability and Environmental Safety. Inhabitants of Virtue-Ality have personal storage of electricity though energized houses and cars that instead of wheels are linked to the road
via magnetism.
2 Aesthetics. Every wall in this city is touchable, just like one`s i-pod. Just touch a wall and various options become available, the history of the structure, its symbiosis with its surroundings, games and options to beautify it. As such the city become one open art-gallery with all citizens being the artists.
3 Education. Special devices have been created for young people, ranging from kindergarten till university. School is in the city, wherever one walks. Through special glasses and headphones one can experience what is to be studied, be it history, mathematics, physics, languages etc. For instance, if one is to learn upon history, one can simply put on glasses through which to past comes to life. Or
put on your headgear and you will instantly be able to converse with people from round the globe!
Utopolis
Utopolis is a city, which in difference with contemporary Rome, is spotlessly clean, but more importantly, it is a welcoming place. People from all backgrounds are included in this city, and everybody has an equal say. As such everybody is represented in politics and decision-making.
Equality is the key-word in this Utopian City; everybody gets a fair chance in society i.e. education and culture are freely available to all! In clear opposition to present-day Rome, Utopolis has no dominant religion, all religions are represented and cherished as a rich addition instead of a possible threat or danger. And last but not least, in Utopolis everybody is HAPPY!
